I savored Tony's book and I deeply enjoy reading Anne's books. Manuelito is a great addition and I love having her perspective, in addition to Leaphorn and Chee, during the mysteries. I can't wait for book 4!
It seems to me that any attempt to accurately reflect Navajo consciousness via the English language is destined to fail from the outset, but Ann Hillerman manages to manifest the discomforting uneasiness of that translation with considerable skill and compassion. I doubt anyone can read this novel cover to cover without gaining immense empathy and affection for the principal characters. Bravo!
Anne, I so do love the Chees' and Leaphorns' adventures! I always look forward to the next book! Glad Leaphorn is becoming stronger and more able to assist Jim and Bernie in their criminal cases. I have actually read all of Tony Hillerman's novels and now you have taken the gauntlet! I do hope you continue to help Bernie and Jim solve even more perplexing cases in the future! Loved Song of the Lion. Thanks for a great absorbing read!
Another really good book. Thank you Anne for carrying on, I look forward to your next one.
