As a person who identifies as a white latino I found this book to be completely eye opening to my own prejudices and personal biases. I thought I had broken down all the barriers in my mind, and for the most part I have but while reading this I found myself understanding more of the person on the other side of the trigger. The author does an amazing job at describing the raw emotions felt by the characters and allows you to understand their thoughts on race, discrimination and even being an outsider. Our society is working well towards a progressive future, but I would love to see this novel as a required reading in middle school/high school to open up the conversation in all schools and hopefully break down even more barriers. I really appreciate this book and wish it would have been around when I was an adolescent.
Hi my name is Alisha and I love this book so much and I think it is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This book reflects on what’s going on in the world. It explains certain parts that us African Americans and other races go through everyday in our life time. It was a amazing book and I hope to read more from you.

Nice book and beautiful
This book gives so much hope for young teens as myself. I felt the same way Starr has but even worse. Scared to voice what’s right, due to the fear that I had inside. This has helped me in many ways to know that it’s ok to be heard. For awhile I thought whites were hating black people silently as well as loudly. The adventure with reading this life changing book has made me understand that all whites are not the same. Yes some still can’t stand my race, but I’m beginning to know how to be comfortable in my own skin. I hope you guys read this book for more knowledge and understanding, rather than just watching the movie. 🥰🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love the book it’s so detailed , the movie was good too 🥰
I saw this movie and then realized there was a book on it too! This book is worth every star I gave it and many more! Teaches many great morals and is perfect for my school project! (I will cite it I promise)
